Army and Navy Cocktail

This classic cocktail is said to have originated at the Army & Navy Club in Washington DC, but there is no definitive proof of that.  It is reported to be nearly a century old and first appears in the 1948 book The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks by David Embury.

Ingredients

Scale

2.5 oz Madrona Navy Strength American Gin (or Dry Gin or Garden Club Gin)
1 oz fresh squeezed Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Orgeat
1 dash Angostura Bitters

Instructions

Fill a shaker with ice and all ingredients
Shake until well-chilled
Strain into cocktail glass
Garnish with grapefruit or lemon twist
